This day in history
On this day in 1929, the U.S. Stock Market crashed. The day became known as "Black Thursday." By the next Tuesday, the market had lost almost 26 billion dollars of value. Banks failed, individual investors lost their savings, and the Great Depression began in America.
It was on this day in 1901 that Annie Edson Taylor became the first person to survive going over the Niagara Falls. She was 63 years old and had no money. She hoped that the stunt of going over the falls in a barrel would bring her fame and fortune.

Robin Hood
The President visited an elementary school one fine day
To read what he thought would be a nice little book
About being a Compassionate Conservative
When he realized, after ten or eleven pages, that he was reading
The story of Robin Hood.
He put the book down and stood from his chair
Saying woe to the man who would tell such a tale
And he told the children what a villain Robin Hood was
And how he was no hero
Like all the terrorists said.

in honor of our outgoing leader: One: The Dream
The President woke from a dream one fine evening
And lurched up in bed
And called and called
And kicked the sheets
Until the Vice President appeared in his slippers and nightcap
And asked what the hell was going on.
The President said a dream broke his sleep
And that he needed another vacation now
Because he was so tired.
Then he rubbed his eyes and remembered the dream and he felt hopeful
Because in it he spoke to Jesus
And went here and there with him
While Jesus explained a great many things.
